Privacy Policy
Last updated 2026-07-24. ShowTheBill Monitor is a service of Content Compass, LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company.
What we collect
- Account and billing. Your name, email, and billing address, collected through Stripe. Card details are handled entirely by Stripe and never reach us.
- Facilities you ask us to monitor. Hospital name, website domain, and the URL of the public machine-readable price file.
- Alert recipients. The email addresses you configure to receive alerts and reports.
- Server logs. Like nearly every web server, ours records standard request logs — IP address, request path and time, and user agent — used for security and operations. Logs rotate automatically and are not kept long-term. Requests to token-bearing portal pages are excluded from our web server's access logs.
Cookies and analytics
The Service reads only public hospital price files. It handles no patient data and no hospital-internal personal information. Our pages set no cookies — none, including operational ones — and we run no third-party analytics. Checkout happens on Stripe's hosted payment pages, which operate under Stripe's privacy policy and set Stripe's own cookies there, not here.
How portal access works
Portal access works by capability links, not passwords. Your portal link is read-only: it shows monitoring status and history but cannot change anything. Changing settings or billing requires a fresh secure link that we email only to your billing address and that expires about 30 minutes after it is issued. Alert and report emails carry only read-only links, plus that recipient's own one-click unsubscribe link.
Alert recipients
You configure the addresses that receive alerts and reports, and you represent that you are authorized to add each of them. Every alert email includes a one-click unsubscribe link for its recipient; a recipient who unsubscribes stops receiving alerts immediately, and the removal sticks unless someone with portal access adds them again.
Processors we use
- Stripe — the system of record for your subscription and billing.
- Cloudflare R2 — our storage for your monitoring history and a working copy of your monitoring configuration.
- Mailgun — delivery of transactional email (alerts, reports, portal links).
How we use your information
We use it only to run the monitoring you pay for and to email you about it. We do not sell your information.
Retention and your choices
Monitoring history is the audit-evidence product you subscribe to, and we retain it while your subscription is active. When your subscription ends: your portal stays available read-only for 30 days, and during that window you can email us for a full export of your monitoring history; monitoring history collected for your subscription is deleted 12 months after cancellation (hospitals in ShowTheBill's public lineup remain part of our public monitoring either way); and account and billing data are deleted within about 90 days, except records we are required to keep for tax or legal reasons. To request access to or deletion of your data at any time, email support@showthebill.com.
Legal disclosures and business transfers
We may disclose information if required by law — for example, in response to a subpoena or other lawful request. If Content Compass, LLC is acquired or its assets are sold, customer data may transfer as part of that transaction; we will notify you at your billing address before your data becomes subject to a materially different privacy policy.
